Arsonists strike in Stanwell

Arsonists caused damage to a park bench in Stanwell after setting light to dry grass on top of it on Wednesday, July 30.

Staines fire fighters were called to the scene, on open land behind Oaks Road, at 9.38pm, where it had been reported a couple of youths were seen running away.

Dry grass or hay had been put on a park bench and set alight, causing the bench to also catch fire.

The fire crew damped the flames down and removed the burning wood, making the scene safe after 20 minutes.
