Stanwell woman left without hot water for six weeks
A mother of two has had to bathe in cold water without heating after saying her housing provider left her with a broken boiler for six weeks.
Twenty-three-year-old Natalie Hedges, of Vernon Close, Stanwell, called A2 Dominion in the middle of February because her boiler didn't produce hot water.
She said nothing has been done, so she has had to boil water on the stove to wash herself.
She said: "I am freezing all the time because I don't have heating, and I have had to take my kids to bathe at my mums once a week.
"I am going up and down the stairs with hot water to fill a bath which is really dangerous because I could end up spilling it on my kids."
When full-time my mum Natalie first noticed it she called A2, who sent an engineer round a week later.
She said: "A week later someone turned up and said the pump had gone, and that was it. I was told I had to wait until they got the part, but they took forever and they didn't keep me informed."
After three weeks an engineer came round to fix it, but said the problem was with the boiler's corroded pipes, and told her she would have to wait until they got new ones delivered.
Natalie, who lives alone with Brandon, five, and Damien, three, said: "In the process he didn't tell me I would have no heating. The fourth week came and I hadn't heard anything and had no hot water or heating."
Natalie said another engineer came round, but mistakenly bought a pump to fix the boiler.
She said: "I thought it was ridiculous, and asked what was going on. He looked at the boiler and saw green stuff dripping from the pipes, which my neighbour said can cause an illness."
A spokeswoman from A2 Housing said after parts were ordered, damage occurred to the boiler which caused the heating to stop: "We offer our sincerest apologies to Ms Hedges for the problems experienced.
"The gas contractor has now taken delivery of the parts required, and will complete the repairs as quickly as possible and at the resident's convenience. We will be offering compensation to the family"
