People claiming benefits has tripled in one year in Elmbridge, Runnymede, and Spelthorne, a report has shown.

Figures released by the National Office of Statistics on Thursday August 13 showed the large increase in a monthly labour market review for July, which was compared to the same month in 2008.

The project, dubbed Stanwell Community Project, is taking place in St Mary's Lodge, Town Lane, where a 60 metre concrete wall is being painting by graffiti artists.

RESIDENTS flocked out in the sunny weather to enjoy the sixth annual fun day in Stanwell.

Northlands Residents' Association put on the event in Whitley Close on Sunday (August 9) which saw more than 200 people turn up.

Police target vehicle crime

Copper piping was stolen from a van parked in a residential road on Monday August 10.

Between 12.15am and 1.15am a white panel van was broken into by thieves in Townsend Road, Ashford.
