Over 200 people at Stanwell Fun day
RESIDENTS flocked out in the sunny weather to enjoy the sixth annual fun day in Stanwell.
Northlands Residents' Association put on the event in Whitley Close on Sunday (August 9) which saw more than 200 people turn up.
Mayor of Spelthorne Caroline Spencer attended along with police officers from Stanwell's safer neighbourhood team.
Spencer Taylor, chairman of the association said: "It was a really nice day, and the kids seemed to enjoy the bouncy castle and the bubble tent.
"We have been holding this event since 2004 and it is a way to bring the community together. If you get to know your neighbours it makes the area safer, because if you go out and see someone you met, you know they won't attack you."
The day also had a barbecue, a live band, and a coconut shy, as well as stall selling plants.
The bubble tent was a gazebo donated by Stanwell councillor Marian Rough, which shot bubbles out which children could pop.
Mr Taylor said: "We decided to let people use the bouncy castle and bubble tent for free because we know some people are finding it difficult with money at the moment."
The day saw £500 being raised, which after costs have been considered will be divided between Help for Heroes, neighbourhood watch, and the residents' association.
