st-uploads-aug3-image-1-830875161.jpgA graffiti-style mural depicting gun powder plotter Guy Fawkes among representations of Stanwell is nearing completion.

The project, dubbed Stanwell Community Project, is taking place in St Mary's Lodge, Town Lane, where a 60 metre concrete wall is being painting by graffiti artists.

Painted by the Signal Project, lead artist Luke 'Dane' Warbuton, has been interviewing Stanwell residents on their memories and then helped to depict it in paint with four other artists.

The project is being organised by housing provider A2 Dominion, who are planning to build four houses in place of the lodge.

Project co-ordinator Mandie Wilde said: "The idea is to bring the community together by showing residents all the different parts of Stanwell. Guy Fawkes is on the mural, as Lord Knyvett, who lived in Stanwell, arrested him before the gun powder plot"

The project will be finished in a few weeks, where around 14 different parts of the mural will be displayed and coated with protectant.

There is also a book and a DVD being created which will show history of the area, and how the murel was made.

We'd like to hear from you.
