Stanwell playgrounds to be rejuvenated

Two play areas in Stanwell are to receive a £50,000 upgrade which will be up and running by December.

Spelthorne Council recently received a £100,000 grant for play equipment from the Department for Children, Schools, and Families, and will be using £50,000 of it to rejuvenate Stanwell Moor Recreation Ground and a playground in Nuthatch Close, Stanwell.

The council say both areas are in need of upgrades, but the Stanwell Moor ground has been the subject of consultation between residents, who have requested for an adventure play area and sport's courts.

Nuthatch Close is one of the last areas due for refurbishment in the council's five-year rolling upgrade department.

Councillor Denise Grant, cabinet member for young people and cultural services, said: "This is excellent news for the young people of Stanwell who have been in need of upgraded play equipment in these two parks for some time.

"With this money we will be able to provide the level of equipment that otherwise we would not have have been able to.

"I am delighted we are able to move so quickly on this as we have already consulted widely in the area and know exactly what is wanted."

We'd like to hear from you.
