Stanwell residents scared to leave their homes at night
Vandalism blighting a block of flats in Stanwell is leaving residents scared to leave their homes after dark.
Residents of A2 Dominion run Bristol Court, in Bristol Close, have seen incidents of graffiti, smashed lights, and anti-social behaviour for the past few months and are calling on A2 to sort out the situation.
Just last week, a TV was thrown down a stairwell and smashed on to the ground.
Spencer Taylor, chairman of Northlands Resident's Association, said: "There are a lot of people who feel a bit intimidated. One of the residents said he is too scared to go on holiday in case he returns and finds his home vandalised."
Mr Taylor said the lights are broken soon after they are repaired, and graffiti adorns the walls.
He said: "I try and clean off the graffiti about once a week but it keeps coming back. We would like A2 to gain control of the undesirables of the block. Once again it is the minority ruining us for the rest of us."
He said he regularly finds beer cans in a utility cupboard which leads to the roof, along with graffiti on the roof, and believes the culprits live in the building.
He said: "If they are going up to the roof drunk then it is only a matter of time before someone falls off."
Residents are also calling for A2 to repair the bottom of the staircases, which have been eroded over time.
A spokeswoman for A2 Dominion said: "We are very unhappy to learn that someone has been deliberately damaging the homes of our residents, which is understandably causing them a great deal of concern and distress."
She said the company are taking the matter seriously and are sending housing officers round to inspect the buildings and discuss the issues to find the root cause.
She said evidence is needed to take further action, so residents should call them in confidence on 0800 432 0077 or email customer.sercives@a2dominion.co.uk if they hear of an incident.
