Stanwell regeneration scheme to begin
Builders are about to start work on a £50 million regeneration project of a run-down estate in Stanwell.
Construction will begin in mid-February for the first phase of Stanwell New Start, where 52 new homes will built over houses that were demolished last year.
The scheme is being run by housing provider A2Dominion along with Spelthorne Council, which is expected to take a year to complete.
David Price, director of regeneration at A2, said: "We're very excited that building work will be starting in February.
"The work will involve installing a site office and marking out the master plan on the ground floor of the digging foundations."
Eleven houses and nine flats will be built for affordable rent in Long Lane, while 16 houses and 16 flats will be made for private sale.
The profit generated from the private homes will be invested in the regeneration project, which will fund help fund the three remaining phases.
The project will also see a new health centre and a children's centre built, along with improving green spaces.
